Ganesh VII

Acrylic and Gold Leaf on canvas

30 inch x 40 inch

19 of 22

"In India, the Hindu deity Ganesh is ubiquitous, his image appearing everywhere. Whether on village walls or cyber cafes, on handbags, on the sides of trucks and neon signs. He is the provider of prosperity, the remover of obstacles, the guarantee of boons and success, and the lord of beginnings.

Perhaps the most popular of all the gods in the hindu pantheon, I was awed by the power of Ganesh's image and wanted to represent this deity through my art"

"The portraits are mirrors of internal struggles, self-doubts, dilemmas with one's own personality and then the final conflict between being an artist and a woman"
